Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 23, 2026
1. Who We Are
Pulse EV ("we," "us," or "our") operates the Pulse EV mobile application for iOS and Android. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our app.
2. Information We Collect
2a. Tesla Account Data
When you sign in via Tesla's OAuth flow, we receive:
- Access token and refresh token — used to communicate with Tesla's API on your behalf. These are AES-256 encrypted before being stored in our database.
- Vehicle identification — VIN, model, and trim information for accurate battery health baselines.
We never receive, store, or have access to your Tesla account password.
2b. Vehicle Telemetry Data
While your vehicle is active (driving or charging), Tesla's fleet telemetry streams the following data to our servers:
- Speed, gear, and odometer
- Battery level, state of charge, and estimated range
- Charging power, energy added, and charge status
- GPS location
- Cabin and outside temperature
- Door lock status
When your vehicle is parked and idle, Tesla sends virtually no data and we do not wake your vehicle.
2c. Account Information
We may collect your email address for account management, password resets, and service notifications.
3. How We Use Your Data
- Display live vehicle status in the app
- Record and display trip history, charge sessions, and battery health trends
- Calculate efficiency scores and driving insights
- Send service notifications (e.g., charge complete)
- Improve and maintain our service
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data or vehicle telemetry with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.
4. Data Security
- Tesla access and refresh tokens are AES-256 encrypted at rest in our database.
- All data in transit is encrypted via TLS (HTTPS).
- We use Tesla's official Fleet API and fleet telemetry protocol — no unofficial endpoints or screen scraping.
- Pulse EV is read-only by design. We do not send commands (lock, unlock, climate, etc.) to your vehicle.
5. Data Retention
Your vehicle telemetry data (trips, charges, battery health) is retained for as long as your account is active. If you cancel your subscription and delete your account, we will delete all associated data within 30 days.
6. Third-Party Services
Pulse EV integrates with the following third-party services:
- Tesla Fleet API — for vehicle data and telemetry
- Supabase — database hosting (PostgreSQL)
- Apple App Store / Google Play Store — subscription billing
- Resend — transactional email delivery
Each third-party service is governed by its own privacy policy.
7. Your Rights
You may at any time:
- Request a copy of the data we hold about you
- Request deletion of your account and all associated data
- Revoke Pulse EV's access to your Tesla account via Tesla's third-party app settings
To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected].
8. Global Privacy Control (GPC)
Pulse EV honors the Global Privacy Control signal as an opt-out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information under California, Colorado, Connecticut, and other US state privacy laws.
Pulse EV does not sell or share your personal information with third parties for advertising or cross-context behavioral purposes. When your browser sends a Sec-GPC: 1 header to our site or API:
- If you are signed in, we record an opt-out flag on your account so the preference persists across sessions and devices.
- If you are not signed in, we log the receipt of the signal without any cookie, identifier, or tracking record.
No separate opt-out request is required — sending the signal is sufficient.
9. Children's Privacy
Pulse EV is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
